Born in Liberia (1981), father Mauritania and mother Liberian, Bechir Malum spent his childhood in Guinea where he discovered painting. Then he settled permanently in Mauritania. Today, he lives in Nouakchott and works mostly in Africa. These few biographical remarks are not without importance in understanding the different facets of his work. Bechir is a painter, sculptor, illustrator and photographer.
His work has been exhibited in Institut Francais Mauritanie, Espace Van Gogh-Arles-France, Salon de Provence-France, Biennale of contemporary African art – Off / Dak’art, and completed numerous artist residencies in several countries.
